This is one of the original GTI-R groups' list members - Phil Davies, who raced an 'R very sucessfully during 1999 in Sprint races in the UK.
Here's the reason Phil had to sell his 'R. It's a motorcycle-engined, six speed sequential gearbox Westfield - 184bhp from 1350cc at a heady 9,750rpm, but then, it only has to pull a feather-light 427kilos!!!!! It runs out of puff at 108.5mph on 13in rims due to the gearbox/final drive ratios.
