Tip from owner J Tandy ...
"I found a suitable replacement for the silly little
plastic pins that are needed to work the controls for the windows etc.
I found some pop rivets at work and cut both ends down, this should allow the
end to slide up and down, slide it to the opposite end and apply a tiny bit of
[epoxy] glue and smooth it off. Let it dry and they work perfectly. Quite
a handy tip if you don't want to shell out heaps of cash for a new unit."
Tip from Gordon Kay to fit a UK-style big battery into your Jap-spec GTI-R

To remove oil mist in your intake - as seen on a recent Norris Designs rebuild (2003)
Remove the vacuum pipe to the cam cover (1). Blank the cam cover inlet and make a loop of tubing for each pair of vacuum feeds on each of the four inlets (remove all other redundant pipes).
Remove the vacuum pipe to the cam cover (2) This one is the real oil mist villain! Blank off the redundant inlet pipe and put an oil mist filter on the cam cover outlet pipe just to make sure that the head can breath and doesn't get compression buildup.
Standard Nissan procedure when you need to bleed the water system ... remove this bolt. Refill with water and replace this bolt.
NEVER TOUCH THIS BOLT IF THE ENGINE IS HOT!!!
Some of the basics of DET ... (although this stuff is not specific to GTI-R/turbo engines - it's solid, practical advice!)

Lots of owners have asked me to find diagrams/pics of the oily bits ... here they are! |
