Removing the Prop Shaft Parts § Prop Shaft Item 1, Quantity 1 § Transfer Box Item 2, Quantity 1 § Gearbox Item 3, Quantity 1 § Special Bolt Item 4, Quantity 8 § Washer Item 5, Quantity 8 § 12mm Nut Item 6, Quantity 8 § 17mm Nut Item 7, Quantity 4 § Prop shaft Support Brackets Item 8, Quantity 2 Tools o Trolley Jack o 4off Axle Stands o Strong 12mm Spanner o 17mm Socket o Extension Bar o Ratchet o Hammer o Block of Wood Procedure 1. Jack up the car as high as you can get it and support on axle stands (all 4 wheels off the ground), or position the car on ramps, or a pit to gain access to the prop shaft. 2. Place the car in a low gear. 3. Undo and remove the 2off visible 12mm nuts, items 6 and washers, items 5 holding the rear of the prop shaft, item 1 to the flange on the transfer box, item 2 (These WILL be tight). The bolts, items 4 are special bolts so don’t loose them. 4. Undo and remove the 2off visible 12mm nuts, items 6 and washers, items 5 holding the front of the prop shaft, item 1 to the flange on the gearbox, item 3 (These WILL also be tight). These bolts, items 4 are also special so don’t loose them either. 5. Take the car out of gear. 6. Rotate the prop shaft, item 1 by hand until the remaining nuts, items 6 are visible. 7. Put the car back in a low gear. 8. Undo and remove the remaining 4off nuts, items 6 and washers, items 5 from the front and rear of the prop shaft, item 1 were it mates to the transfer box, item 2 and the gearbox, item 3. With all the bolts, items 4 removed the prop, item 1 will be disconnected. 9. Pull the prop shaft, item 1 down to break the flange seal at the front and back, if its tight use a block of wood and a hammer. 10. Loosen the 4off 17mm nuts, items 7 holding the prop shaft support brackets, items 8 to the chassis via 4 threaded studs. 11. Support the prop shaft, item 1. 12. Remove the 4off 17mm nuts, items 7 holding the prop shaft support brackets, item 8 to the chassis. 13. Lower the prop shaft, item 1 and remove from under the car.
